On Air - ING Video studio

ING enlisted iDeal Acoustics to build an in-house video studio for their internal and external communications. A 3D listening experience

In the Lab of Tomorrow - an initiative by Tomorrowland where creative and innovative minds shape the future of entertainment tech - Auro Technologies is quietly (well, not really) continuing the development of 3D sound. A total experience where you perceive sound all around you (both horizontally and vertically).To say that we at iDeal Acoustics are proud to have developed a demo listening room for Auro 3D where the 3D experience truly comes to life is an understatement.

From the beach to the studio

Last week with their feet in the sand in Ostend, this week from their new Studio XL in Vilvoorde. XL? Absolutely, because not only was the studio completely renovated, but the Qmusic team now also has a control room and 'the zone', where podcasts and videos can be made. Bel RTL goes 360°

Et oui, our French-speaking radio producers also saw some serious construction last summer. Bel RTL recently moved into a brand-new studio. Et bien évidemment, iDeal Acoustics had something to do with it.“More and more listeners are ‘watching’ the radio”, Bel RTL journalist Thomas de Bergeyck told his colleague Michaël Miraglia on RTL Info, which is why they fully opted for a multifunctional 360° studio where, in addition to live radio and replayable segments, podcasts and vodcasts can also be made. “The studio is not only visually much more attractive (shout out to Deusjevoo for the beautiful decor and the great collaboration!) it is also technologically very advanced.” Eh bien, on est complètement d’accord

The sound of victory

So, what are we up to this week? Yesterday, the construction of 8 voice booths for sports commentators at DAZN kicked off. In the coming weeks, our teams will be working on eight freestanding booths where sports history will undoubtedly resonate.

Meet Joe Blue

The summer vacation is relentlessly coming to an end. But no worries, the Joe DJs are ensuring a painless transition to the autumn routine, and they're doing it from their brand-new studio in Vilvoorde.Good times, great music? You bet!Another great collaboration with DPG Media Belgium Facilities, DPG Techniek Radio & Nachtraven.

Small loads, big loads

When we wash the windows at the DPG Media Belgium stations in Vilvoorde, it involves a bit more than just a chamois and a squeegee. The studio windows consist of two large acoustic glass panels of 6 by 3 meters with an air gap in between. Six years after installation, it was time to wash the inside of the glass. Enter: a crane to lift the 580 to 800-kilogram windows out of the structure.Last Saturday, in the early morning, that crane was neatly delivered by a larger crane to the Kleurt-Je-Dag-plein. Safety first: to carry out this job, the floor was supported from the parking garage underneath the building.All's well that ends well: upon their return after the summer, the DJs can once again make radio with a clear view.Thanks to J&M Cleaning for washing the windows and to De Kraanman for the precision work.

Jamming in the fields

No, we don't just build broadcast studios for major media players. When two people with a heart for music knock on iDeal Acoustics' door to convert their warehouse into rehearsal spaces, we immediately say a wholehearted yes.We can only applaud an initiative like that of Jeroen and Nathalie from De Muze Repetitieruimtes in Oedelem. While the Joe DJs are making waves in Westende, we are working hard in Vilvoorde on a new radio studio.The summer months are traditionally the 'high season' at iDeal Acoustics. Before starting a new season, the stations like to give their studios a makeover. Or they opt for a completely new studio, like Joe & Qmusic.Either way, we're on it!

Jingles all the way!

The radio studios for Joe and Qmusic still have that new smell, but in the meantime, iDeal Acoustics has also built four more studios for the audio designers and a voice booth at DPG Media Netherlands.“It was a fascinating project because the four studios have different dimensions, which means there are also different standing waves,” explains Matthias Aerts from iDeal Acoustics. “We tackled this by placing custom-tuned bass traps at the correct frequency. We had a tight deadline: three people from our construction team worked on it full-time for seven weeks. And the result is impressive: four high-end acoustic studios and a voice booth.”Perfectionist ProfessionalsFrom design to finishing, everything was done in close consultation with DPG and the audio designers themselves. Project manager Okke van Bergen was responsible for operational follow-up. “As a mediator, I listen to the users' needs, taking into account the management's requirements. These are professionals who are very perfectionistic about performing their job in optimal conditions. We succeeded in meeting their needs.”Place of Honor for SlashEach audio designer also received a budget to give their studio a personal touch. Kevin is unpacking the last items and has already placed some plants. Slash from Guns 'n Roses gets a place of honor in the decor. And then the acoustic door closes. Time to make some noise.

For the Schaarbeek Music Academy, we had the pleasure of creating a control room and an ensemble booth with the finest oak wood. A wonderful collaboration with passionate music lovers, resulting in custom-made spaces where talent can fully flourish.

Moved to the future

TV Limburg's new home at the Corda Campus in Hasselt is almost ready, and guess who did the acoustics for the news studio? iDeal Acoustics built a semi Box-in-a-Box for optimal internal acoustics and insulation. Thanks to Deusjevoo (set design & construction) for the great collaboration!The Corda Campus is a brand-new hotspot where innovation and technology are shaping the world of tomorrow. We wish TV Limburg a bright future at this inspiring location!

That morning in Amsterdam...

Early this morning, our teams left for the brand-new headquarters of DPG Media in Amsterdam, where we started the construction of 4 custom audio studios and 1 voice booth for the Dutch radio stations Q-Music and Joe. A great follow-up to our collaboration last year, when we also built 4 podcast studios and 4 audio studios for DPG Media.What we appreciate at iDeal Acoustics is that the building was designed with a focus on sustainability, biodiversity, and energy consumption. We are happy to contribute to that. For the studios, we use CO₂-neutral wood and followed the strict rules of the BREEAM certification.

64 studios in 2024!

We certainly haven't been sitting still in 2024...We built 64 studios, including 11 rehearsal spaces, 15 control rooms, 5 radio studios, 6 podcast studios, and 2 TV studios.Time to enjoy our New Year's dinner with the team, and then we'll dive right back in!2025? Helping build the new VRT house

VRT has selected a partner for the construction of the new VRT house. The contract is awarded to the construction team consisting of OFFICE Kersten Geers David Van Severen, Jaspers-Eyers Architects, Bureau Bas Smets, Tractebel, CES, iDeal Acoustics, Willemen Construct, Jan De Nul Group, and EEG.The new 65,000 m² VRT house will remain on the current site at Reyerslaan. It will be a compact and versatile building of two stacked volumes. The base is an octagonal volume including a spacious lobby, an event space, and three large television studios. On top of that comes the second volume with a total of three floors. Each floor consists of a large workspace of 87m x 87m, including 5 radio studios and a news studio. “We have chosen a horizontal building that promotes a new way of working,” said VRT CEO Frederik Delaplace. “Our people will literally work together on large work platforms that can flexibly respond to how media will evolve in the coming decades. The building will be a place where creation and interaction are central.”

Acoustic makeover

The ADR studio at Sonhouse received an acoustic makeover. The semi-cylindrical diffusers combined with broadband absorption produce a dense, diffuse group of reflections from the direct signal. This, combined with custom bass traps, ensures that recordings made in different locations have minimal impact on the sound. As a result, the new studio has the perfect acoustic properties for accurate ADR voice recordings.
